Egypt: Morsi is outsted from power and detained

Mohammed Morsi of the Muslim Brotherhood, who has
been ousted from power in Egypt after one year. 
The Egyptian army has announced fresh presidential and parliamentary elections after ousting Mohammed Morsi from power. In an address to the divided nation, commander of the armed forces Abdul Fatah Khali al Sisi, said Mr Morsi had failed to meet the demands of the Egyptian people. He announced the suspension of the Egyptian constitution and said the army had agreed a new political road map with other political and religious figures, adding that violence would not be tolerated. As the news was announced, fireworks burst over Cairo's Tahrir Square where tens of thousands of anti-Morsi protesters erupted into cheers upon hearing the announcement.The move follows four days of mass street protests against Mr Morsi, and an ultimatum issued by the military which expired on Wednesday afternoon.
