Monks injured in series of blasts in India

Bomb blasts at Indian templesTwo monks have been injured after a series of blasts at three Buddhist sites in Eastern India, drawing condemnation from the countries Prime Minister. Multiple small blasts hit one of Buddhism's holiest sites - the Bodh Gaya temple complex - wounding two monks. The historic temple itself was not damaged. Four blasts took place on the grounds of the Mahabodhi temple, while another four explosions were reported at the nearby Karma temple. A junior home minister said that no one had yet claimed responsibility for the attacks, and that an investigation to find out who was involved would be carried out. Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh strongly condemned the blasts, saying "such attacks on religious places will never be tolerated". State police said they had earlier warned officials that Islamic militants could target the sites as revenge for Buddhist violence against Muslims in neighboring Burma. Very few pilgrims were at the sites at the times of the incidents, according to one official.
