Philippines Bomb blast kills 5

A powerful bomb has exploded in the center of the southern Philippines city of Catabato on Monday, killing five people, police have said. The explosive device was placed in a vehicle parked near a hospital and a school, city police chief Senior Superintendent Rolen Balquin told a local radio station, saying: "The explosion was on a very-busy street. There are five confirmed fatalities". He also told the network that the late-afternoon blast damaged at least four vehicles and triggered a fire, but that no group had yet claimed responsibility for the attack and the motive was still being investigated. Source: AFP news.
