Suicide Bombers kill 8 children in Afghanistan

The Indian Consulate was thought
to have been the target of the blast. 
Suicide bombers have targeted, but failed to attack, the Indian consulate in the eastern Afghan capital of Jalalabad - killing eight children who were in a nearby mosque. Police say three bombers drove up in a car before detonating their explosives, but failed to attack the consulate building. Eight children who were praying in a mosque next to the site are reported to have been killed, and 22 other people were injuredbut. The explosion happened at 10.00 local time. Ahmadzia Abdulzai, Nangarhar province spokesman, told AFP news agency: "A car containing explosives hit a barrier near the consulate and detonated", adding that the blast had damaged near-by shops but not the consulate building.
