Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe's party has won a two-thirds majority in parliament in this weeks elections which his opposition candidate and the countries Prime Minister branded a 'huge farce'. Officials from the Zimbabwean Electoral Commission said that Zanu-PF had won 142 seats in the 210-seat chamber. The results of the Presidential election, which Mr Mugabe and his rival - Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai - are going head to head, have not yet officially been announced. Mr Tsvangirai has branded the elections a "huge farce", claiming Mr Mugabe's party had cheated. However, the two main observer groups monitoring the elections disagreed with the claims - saying voting had been "free and peaceful", and urging opposition to Mr Mugabe's party to "accept the hard facts". One monitoring group did however agree with Mr Tsvangirai's claims, saying that the poll was "seriously compromised".
