A Thai airways plane has skidded off the runway while landing at Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi International Airport, injuring fourteen people. The Airbus A300-300 was touching down in Bangkok, after a flight from China, when the incident occurred. Thai Airways said the landing gear malfunctioned, causing the aircraft to skid, and passengers were then evacuated using emergency slides. A statement released by the airline read: "The nose gear failed as the plane touched the runway, causing the plane to skid" adding: "Sparks were noticed from the vicinity of the right landing gear near the engine; the matter is under investigation". Thai airways said that a total of 288 passengers and 14 crew were onboard the aircraft, and that the fourteen injured passengers were taken to hospital.
