UK: David Cameron in landmark phone call to Iranian President Rouhani

today in a landmark phone call, a spokesman has said. 
Britain's Prime Minister David Cameron has called Iran's President - becoming the first Prime Minister to do so in a decade. Mr Cameron made the phone call to President Rouhani ahead of nuclear negotiations in Geneva, due to take place on Wednesday. A Downing Street Spokesperson said the two leaders discussed the "bilateral relationship between Britain and Iran welcoming the steps taken since President Rouhani took office". On the topic of Iran's Nuclear relations, the two are said to have "agreed significant progress had been made in the recent Geneva negotiations", with the spokesperson adding that the two felt it was "important to seize the opportunity presented by a further round of talks". The World leaders also discussed the ongoing civil war in Syria, agreeing that there was a need for a "political solution to end the bloodshed".
