Typhoon hits the Philippines: 2,500 hundred

SKY NEWS: Over 2,000 people have been killed after  Typhoon Haiyan, one of the most powerful typhoons ever recorded in the world, hit the Philippines. A further 11 million people are displaced in the nation and warships, aid agencies and emergency medical teams are all arriving in the nation to provide care and support to those affected.  In the UK alone, £30 million has been raised by the public to support charities in the country including the Red Cross and Oxfam, and governments across the World have pledged aid packages and money. 
Thousands of people have been forced to leave their homes in villages in Haiyan's path amid fears the storm damage could be the worst in the Philippines' history.
