Dennis Rodman's agent has denied claims that his trip to North Korea with a group of basketballers was a publicity stunt by the countries regime, saying the trip was financed by a betting company.

CBA reports that Darren Prince has said that Paddy Power - a stock exchange listed Irish betting firm - covered the expenses of Mr Rodman and his fellow former players as they went to Pyongyang to play a match in honour of Kim Jong Un's birthday.

He denied claims made on American-based news network CNN by NBA Commissioner David Stern that  Dennis Rodman had been tempted to stage the game by "a flash of North Korean Money".

The game was played in front of the North Korean dictator, his wife and other senior officials at a stadium in Pyongyang. The trip to the country for the game was filmed for a documentary by English-based production company Chief Productions.
