A powerful blast in a residential building in the Argentine city of Rosario has killed at least 12 people. More than 60 people were also injured in the explosion, and at least a further 15 people are said to be still missing and emergency teams are still searching through the rubble. Rosario city mayor Monica Fein said that the explosion was caused by a gas leak in the heating system, and a Civil Defense Director told one newspaper that the "whole front wing of the building collapsed with the impact". More than 50 apartments in the 10-storey building are said to have been destroyed. Sante Fe provincial governor Antonio Bonfatti visited the affected area along with Argentina's defense and security secretaries. He promised a full inquiry into the incident, saying: "This is the time to make a proper assessment so we can take a decision. Someone must be accountable for this". Mr Bonfatti described the accident as "a black page in the city's history".
