California: Hundreds evacuated as wildfire rages on
Around 1,500 people have been forced to evacuate their homes in southern California as a wildfire rages out of control, local officials have said. The rapidly-spreading blaze currently cover around 10,000 acres and, since the fire began on Wednesday, two firefighters and a civilian have been injured. According to officials, 1,000 firefighters are at the scene battling the blaze, and are being supported by 13 helicopters and six air tankers. Fire officials say 15 structures have so far been destroyed, and aerial footage broadcast on television news showed houses on fire. According to the Los Angeles Times has reported that that The Federal Emergency Management Agency has authorized the use of funds to assist with fighting the blaze.
