The World Welcomes in 2014 in a Spectacular Style

Celebrations across the World are taking place to mark the beginning of 2014. 

Firework displays in countries including London, Dubai, New Zealand, Australia, China and Singapore have heralded the arrival of the new year in spectacular style.

Thousands have turned out to celebrate the new year, including a display in Dubai which aimed to break World Records with fireworks stretching over 30 miles along the sea front, and thousands more watched fireworks over Hong Kong's Victoria Harbour.

Many more commemorated 2014 in Australia, watching an amazing display over Sydney's Harbour bridge.

Later on, as the time zones meant half the World was in 2014 whilst the other half was left in 2013, thousands lined the streets of London for a spectacular fireworks display as the famous Big Ben landmark chimed in the New Year.

Festivities also drew massive crowds in mainland European countries including Paris and Berlin.
