India: Eight Killed in Building Collapse
At least eight people have been killed after a building collapsed in the city of Vadodara, Western India, officials say. The incident took place at 04.30 local time, and the 12-year old building was part of a residential complex, according to reports. A second building is reported to have collapsed, but was fortunately empty. Ten people are still trapped under the debris of a three-storey building, which was home to about 12 families. The Chief Minister of Gujarat State (where Vadodara is located), Narendra Modi, has said he had sent a minister to the site of the accident and that rescue operations were continuing.
